WW1 U.S. Rock Island Arsenal 1903 manufactured in 1917 with a barrel marked R.I.A 11-17 and a crown that measures 1.5. The stock has really nice tiger stripes, unusual for a military piece. There is a barely visible remnant of the original cartouche on the left side of the stock and it is marked RI 4 at the tip. The right side has a C-S.A.A. rebuild stamp from the San Antonio Arsenal. There is a P in a square at back of the trigger guard. The barrel is also marked M25 on the bottom by the muzzle, which we believe is a steel lot number. The smooth butt plate is hand stippled and there is a large Hatcher hole on the left side of the receiver which are both characteristics of Marine Corps use, however we do not have positive proof that this is a Marine Corps rifle. It does come with a R.I.A. 1918 WW1 leather sling and an oiler in the butt stock. MMR430504CFH
